1st East Africa Regional Social Work Students Summit

THE CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY OF EASTERN AFRICA IN COLLABORATION WITH THE KENYA

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SOCIAL WORKERS (Nairobi Branch)

Theme: “The Role of Social Work Students in Promoting Sustainable Development Goals in Africa and Beyond”

 

Preamble

Social work students are a fluid and significant mass of professionals who are able to initiate social transformational change through socioeconomic empowerment of the deserving members of society, community service, advocacy, outreach activities, education, designing and implementation of tangible projects at all levels. The conference would be an academic fora to enable students exchange ideas and share practical strategies on how they could promote sustainable development goals in Africa and beyond. It would help students set achievable targets and establish linkages through which they could continue to interact and share experiences on good practices in enhancing social wellbeing of the society.

Sub-themes:

Social Work students as agents of ending poverty and its forms in Society

Social Work students strategy on ending hunger, achieving food security and improved nutrition, and promotion of sustainable agriculture

Social Work Students commitment on ensuring healthy lives and promotion of wellbeing for ALL at all ages

Social Work students contribution in ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for ALL

Social Work students strategies on achieving gender equality and empowerment of ALL women and girls

Do Social Work Students have a role in ensuring availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for ALL?

Social Work Students ability to promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for ALL

Social Work Students as critical agents of enhancing equality within and among Countries

Social Work Students and social policy formulation and implementation

Deadlines:

Submission of abstracts: Send abstracts of between 200 and 400 words, with six key words (12 point font, Times New Roman, single spaced in APA referencing style). Abstracts should include; (Title, name(s), address, email-address of author(s) and tel. nos.). Students are encouraged to co-author papers in their institutions or acrossinstitutions. Professors and instructors in social work profession are welcome to present papers. Outstanding papers will be selected for publication in a journal as confer-ence proceedings.
